About Me

Me and my pots

I trained in Southend and as I have moved around the country I have set up my studio in all sorts places – often the garage! I have taught ceramics at a college in Reading and  also adult evening classes in my studio. Having moved to York four years ago, my studio is now, nestled in the Undercroft of Bishopthorpe Palace, with a beautiful view of the River Ouse. It sometimes comes into the studio, but that is another story.

I make contemporary hand-thrown tableware designed for everyday use, as well as charming hand-built decorations. Each piece is a unique work of art, balancing simplicity, functionality, and aesthetic appeal. Unlike mass-produced items, my pieces are distinctively individual, yet harmoniously complement each other.

My collection is usually crafted from flecked stoneware that imparts a subtle speckled texture and are glazed in soothing shades of cream, blue, and green. I also work with Vulcan Black Stoneware, which is a drier clay creating interesting and unique glaze reactions. My collection is mainly pots and decorations, but includes unglazed porcelain ceramic jewellery.

Every item I create is, I hope, beautiful and practical, enhancing your everyday life with its artistry and quality. However, my work is made to be used and nothing gives me greater pleasure than when I see someone enjoying a coffee in one of my mugs.
